Claire Thomas

Research Assistant III

Claire Thomas graduated in May 2025 with her BA, Honours in Psychology, Minor in Interpersonal Development from UBC. Her interests lie in the cross-sections between physical and mental health. In particular, she is interested in exploring how physical health challenges create and contribute to unique mental health experiences and how we can create novel interventions to support mental health in physical health recovery. She hopes to obtain a PhD in counselling psychology, splitting time between research and private practice with chronically ill populations.

Ron Barskey

Research Mentor

Ron Barskey is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University.  His research involves health psychlogy, with a focus on chronic and rare diseases.


Alexis Webster

Research Mentor

Alexis is a doctoral student in Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology (MERM) at the University of British Columbia.  She focuses on issues of low-quality data in online samples and measurement validation. Alexis is dedicated to establishing and implementing best research practices to uphold research accuracy and integrity. 

Lissy Liu

Research Project Coordinator

Lissy graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Education, focusing on interpersonal development. Her academic background centers on understanding human behavior, emotional well-being, and the dynamics of supportive relationships.


Her research interests focus on children and parent–child relationships, particularly how family interactions influence emotional development, coping, and resilience. Lissy is passionate about promoting mental wellness through compassionate, evidence-based approaches and plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology to further her work supporting children and families.

Brishk Manzoor

Research Assistant III

Brishk graduated from the Faculty of Science at UBC, majoring in behavioural neuroscience. Her journey into psychology is rooted in a strong desire to understand individual and collective behaviours, particularly the impact of daily environmental factors on human behaviour. Outside the research group, she enjoys reading, painting, and volunteering at various research outlets.

Sheldon Sargent

Research Assistant III

Sheldon recently completed his Bachelor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia.

His areas of study include clinical psychology, developmental psychology, and social justice. He hopes to research how these fields intersect to improve our understanding of the diverse factors involved in human development. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and hopes to use his knowledge and skills to help guide struggling young adults.
